My wonderfully talented friend is casting for a new photo project! Read below and contact her if you’re interested in taking part. Believe me after perusing her site, you’re gonna wanna take part.
“Seeking the stories of American men and women who are living lives or working in professions that are highly unlikely and extremely improbable given how or where they grew up.
When their upbringings/backgrounds/childhood facts are taken into consideration, their present-day living/working realities inspire awe and disbelief. The contrast between their past and present embodies the concepts of overcoming, defying the expected, exceptional transformation, infinite possibility or “nothing is too amazing to happen”. This isn’t necessarily a focus on rags to riches, though it could be.
It could also be other examples of the improbable like child heiress becomes nun or remedial learner becomes leading PHD scholar in a complex discipline or kid from impoverished rural family becomes CEO of global enterprise.
To be considered for this project please email firstname.lastname@example.org”

March is one of the best months ever. Not only is the weather crazy and the styles experimental, but the college basketball madness begins. The tournament has not started, but any devoted NCAA fan knows that right now is the most crucial time in college basketball. It is the final opportunity for teams “on the bubble” to make the NCAA tournament and show why their team is the best in the nation.
2nd Rank Duke vs Unranked Maryland
night was just a glimpse of how insane this month can be. Powerhouse, Duke seemed unbeatable with the return of Ryan Kelly, but lost

to an un-ranked Maryland team in the ACC conference tournament. Duke, a team poised to receive a number 1 seed, better be happy they lost in this tournament and not the NCAA tournament. MADNESS ISN’T COMING, IT’S ALREADY HERE!!!

Good friend of the space, Levi Maestro, continues to impress us – setting out to create a longstanding series of products we might think we’ve come to know already, yet adding a refreshing new twist. I got my first glimpse of the Infinity Piece on the wrist of the boss jeffstaple. Designey, I thought. Kind of interesting. When I finally got my own over a month ago, I put it on and just stared at it for a bit. Aesthetically speaking, it’s just beautiful. The genuine stingray band and brushed rose gold plated steel hits the light in a special way. I’ve worn it every day since.
Imagine a piece of jewelry that symbolized something. The idea that when you’re dedicated to what you love, time becomes irrelevant. The Infinity Piece was created to be a reminder that you can never spend too much time on the things you’re passionate about & that’s something that applies to everyone.

SCOPE hosts art shows worldwide providing dozens of well respected galleries and emerging artists an international stage to display their contemporary art. Last week SCOPE was in New York City and I had the delightfully bewildering opportunity to take in some aesthetically pleasing and thought provoking pieces. Gallery owners, artists and more casual observers like myself shared their artistic insights amidst excited gasps and the occasional disapproving nose crinkle.
Brazilian artist Simone Kestelman sought to bring attention to the plight of female children in developing nations with this ceramic sculpture. Burdened by poverty and taught that girls/women are less valuable than boys/men, certain parents discard their female children wanting instead a male to carry on the family name and help them fiscally. Simone Kestelman seeks to bring awareness to situations in dire need of change while creating beautiful pieces.
Right to left: found object assemblage and a wax sculpture
The four works pictured above represent the tiniest fraction of art I enjoyed at SCOPE. I implore everyone who is able to attend SCOPE next time around. Day passes are a mere 20 bucks and with over 50 galleries curating mini shows, the value is incredible. Seriously, you guys. Shouts to Khari P. of Weldon Arts for putting me on!
