STPL x OAKLEY: FROGSKIN.

Here it is. This is the one you’ve all been waiting for. The STPL x Oakley FROGSKINS! In pop culture, it was a time like no other. Ronald Reagan was in the White House, “The Terminator” was in the box office and Run-D.M.C. was certified gold. It was also the time when Oakley created the FROGSKINS. Oakley resurrected the original tooling from the early ’80s to produce new limited editions, giving you a chance to own a piece of history. For each Frogskin, limited quantities will be produced. Once supplies are gone, the window of opportunity will be closed forever!
As a part of The History of Oakley collaboration we did, each of the other 5 styles are directly connected to a sport. But the Frogskin was the first Oakley design that was directed at a lifestyle, rather than a particular sport. Hence, we decided to design it with our lifestyle in mind—i.e., The Pigeon.

Splat! Splat! Splat!

The frame features two tones of grey and the first time ever a translucent plastic was used on the Frogskin. Looks sick! Our little Pigeon mascot is laser etched on the lens. The CEO of Oakley said, “This is the best Frogskin ever designed. Period.”

Uh-oh…we got hit. Lucky us.

STPL x OAKLEY: HOLBROOK.

The Oakley Holbrook is part of our 3rd drop in The History of Oakley Collaboration that started at the beginning of this long, hot summer! The Holbrook is Shaun White’s signature model which was designed with his bro, Jesse who acts as Creative Director for Shaun’s projects. Therefore, it only made sense to take inspiration from the snowsport he excels in.
The name “Holbrook” came from a small town found along historic Route 66 in Arizona that sits on the outskirts of the painted desert and the petrified forest. It’s a classic western badland that epitomizes a spirit of exploration and adventure found in those traveling along Highway 66 in the 50’s and 60’s.

Please note lens color on final production is Chrome Iridium Silver and it looks dope. Red metal bolts accents the front frame.

This Holbrook features a white halftone gradient fade. Starts off solid white at the front, then fades to clear at the earstems—like you’re floating through the perfect powder stash!

It’s available today at Reed Space as well as select Oakley Flagships and Oakley.com.

STPL x OAKLEY: DROP 2.

The 2nd group of The History of Oakley by Staple Design Collection is dropping today! As with the first drop (The Eyeshade and Radar), this release consists of two styles; one from the past one from the present: The Razor Blade and The Jawbone.
The Razor Blade is available in strict limited quantities to select Oakley retailers as well as Reed Space. The Jawbone is available at oakley.com as well as Oakley Flagships.

The classic Razor Blade from 1987. With the introduction of a sleek new lens shape and Oakley’s super comfortable trigger earstems, wearers now have over 22 million permutations to choose from with the revolutionary Blade System. The Staple version is Blue with an Ice Iridium lens. It takes its inspiration from the sport of surfing (which I just learned this week!!) The white spray of the ocean splashes across the frames of this Razor Blade. Each and every single pair has been hand painted by artisans in California and hence, each is unique to itself.

(Special thanks to Chari & Co for the gears!)
You might have seen a guy named Lance rocking the Jawbone’s in the Tour De France. So it only made sense to compliment our version with a cycling inspired design. The Staple Jawbone is Matte White with a Grey Vented Lens.
Oakley’s legacy of sports performance innovation continues with the new JAWBONE. This frame is like nothing ever seen in the world of sports.
With Oakley’s new SWITCHLOCK™ Technology, the lower part of the frame rim opens to allow easy access for quick lens changing, letting you optimize performance in any light condition. The revolutionary design holds the lenses with a suspension system so stresses on the frame won’t affect the optics. With ordinary frames, flexing can change the surface contours of the lenses, causing optical distortion.
A comfortably secure fit is essential for athletic competition, so Oakley started this new design with the company’s legendary Three-Point Fit. Instead of hooking the ears like conventional frames, a Three-Point Fit ensures the frame touches the wearer only at the bridge of the nose and the sides of the head.

THE HISTORY OF OAKLEY.

In 1975 Oakley changed the entire game with a simple handlebar grip. With a need for something more prominent to put his “O” logo on, Founder Jim Jannard turned to goggles for the bigger real estate on the strap…and the rest is optical history .35 years later, Oakley is the leader in optical performance—bar none.

Oakley asked Staple Design in late 2009 to help them celebrate this momentous occasion. After all, Oakley was born in 1975.

I was born in 1975. The stars were aligned as they say.
So we’re proud to announce “The History Of Oakley by Staple Design”. This will be a 6-piece collection that’ll drop over the next few months, beginning July 13th along with a special event at Reed Space.
More details soon but here’s the information for the event. Come by and catch a glimpse of what is to come. Did I mention Just Blaze is coming to grace us on the wheels? Oh yeah.
