DVD DROPS…

We have some new arrivals at the Space, this time in DVD format. First we have The Universe of Keith Haring, a film by Christina Clausen…

this documentary offers an exclusve and intimate look into Haring’s life, from growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania, to his heyday as a world-renowned artist, and also features interviews with Fab 5 Freddy, David LaChapelle, Yoko Ono, and more. The next arrival is A Walk into the Sea: Danny Williams and the Warhol Factory, by Esther B. Robinson…

the film is Robinson’s personal investigation into the disappearance of her uncle, Danny Williams, a promising filmmaker as well as Andy Warhol’s lover. Thirty-five years later, Robinson’s discovery of 20 extraordinary never-before-seen films and her own interviews of surviving Factory members have culminated into this deep exploration of family and art. The last, but not least, arrival is Beautiful Losers, by Aaron Rose…

the documentary focuses on the careers and work of Thomas Campbell, Cheryl Dunn, Shepard Fairey, Harmony Korine, Geoff McFetridge, Barry McGee, Margaret Kilgallen, Mike Mills, Steven “Espo” Powers, Aaron Rose, Ed Templeton and Deanna Templeton. Through a series of interviews, these artists explain their reasoning behind their “do-it-yourself” style of street art beginning in the 1990’s, as well as the influences behind their art stemming from skateboarding, graffiti, and underground music such as punk-rock and hip-hop circulating throughout the time period. Come check out these great flicks, now available at the Space.
