NYC SKATEBOARDING DAY!

Today June 21st cancel whatever it is your currently doing and join a few hundred of your closest friends in the streets of NYC to thrash. This year seems to be the biggest ever, I know some say that every year, but that's because it keeps getting better! This year there are more sponsors and that means more product to give out. Official Sponsors showing love for the New York skateboarding community are 5boro, Emerica, Zoo York, DC, Volcom, Riot, 1st Infantry, Substance, Prize Fighter Cutlery, KCDC, Concrete, Supreme, Autumn, Rival, Everything must go, Rockstar Bearings, and 411vm. If that's not enough, there will be free food and beverages at the end of the event. There will also be an MVP(CA$H) award for the person who reps the hardest today. Trust... There are alotta people repping... Holla! So on that note get offline and out; Go join a few hundred of your closest friends in the streets of NYC for some good ol'skateboarding and fun. The event started at noon at the Brooklyn Banks and will end at Tompkins Sq. Park whenever you say... Ha!

STAPLE DESIGN X LOMOGRAPHY a.k.a LOMO

STAPLE DESIGN started working with Lomography (aka LOMO), about one year ago now, putting the finishing touches on this project. The set includes an incredible camera called The "Colorsplash" as well as a massive hardcover photo book with over 1000 images. We asked the entire Lomographic Community at large to submit photos and the STAPLE DESIGN team went through the process of photo editing, art directing and laying the book out.
With Lomographers all across the world aiming their lenses and firing a colored flash burst at any and every given opportunity, you can truly call this a bona-fide positive social contagion—the ultimate global collaboration. But this begs an important question: where does the motivation and inspiration for all of this hyperactivity stem from? We gave our photographers a mission statement. The concept was to follow the guidelines of the Chakras. (Chakras are commonly described, as energy centers in the spine located at major branchings of the human nervous system, beginning at the base of the spinal column and moving upward to the top of the skull. Chakras are considered to be a point of metaphysical and biophysical energy of the human body.)

Chakras are represented by color (and each color happens to correspond to a color flash filter on the Lomo Colorsplash Camera ; )
• Purple Colorsplash Chakra: Peace, tranquility, and closeness
• Blue Colorsplash Chakra: Music, nightlife, parties, and gatherings
• Green Colorsplash Chakra: Nature, Life, and Animals
• Yellow Colorsplash Chakra: Activities, diversions, and sports
• Orange Colorsplash Chakra: Consumption, eating, buying, and collecting
• Red Colorsplash Images: Sex, Passion, Love, and Strength
• Multicolor Colorsplash Images: Don't Care About any Rules

Hundreds of Lomographers teamed up with an elite squad of eleven Commissioned Chakra photographers to produce several thousand images. All-Star Photographers include:

He has created artwork for Metallica, The Misfits, and even designed a pair of Nike SB Dunks. Remember ZORLAC skateboards?...skateboard graphics and ads for Zorlac Skateboards during the 80s and beginning of the 90s! This guy influenced alotttta people with his work. The graffiti movement is one that has long influenced streetwear, culture and art in general. Sasha Jenkins (Ego Trip Magazine, White Rapper show) and Legendary Artist ChinoBYI in conjunction with 10.Deep clothing/ LTD Magazine/ PRESTEL/ HEINEKEN, give you a look behind the scene into graffitti before it’s immortalized on walls.

Piecebook: The secret drawings of graffiti writers, a compilation of sketches from world famous artists will be on prominent display, Thursday June 12th as 10.Deep holds a gallery reception at REED SPACE for the release of the book. The event will showcase prints from select artists featured in the book and a special package (Piecebook, tee and sharpie) will be available for purchase.
